Jesus Is Risen !

But if Christ is preached as raised from the dead, how can some among you say there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then neither has Christ been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then empty (too) is our preaching; empty, too, your faith. Then we are also false witnesses to God, because we testified against God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised, and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins. Then those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are the most pitiable people of all. But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 1 Corinthians 15:12-20.

I want us to consider one question: what if Christ didn’t rise again?

1. Jesus would be a liar.Christ predicted His resurrection on several occasions. He spoke quite plainly. Matthew writes, “From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day” (Matt. 16:21). Mark records Jesus saying, “But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee” (Mark 14:28). To the women who came to Christ’s tomb on Easter morning and wondered where His body was, the angel said, “He is not here: for he is risen, as he said” (Matt. 28:6).If the resurrection did not happen, we would have to say the Jesus was a liar. And if He lied about the resurrection, could we trust His other sayings?

2. There is not gospel. The word “gospel” means “good news.” But if the resurrection is taken from the gospel, we are left with sad news, not good news. Half a gospel is no gospel at all.

3. Our faith is groundless. Faith in a dead Savior is both preposterous and pathetic.If you were being chased by a madman, and you had the choice of running either to a house full of people or a cemetery for help, where would you run? I think we would all run to the house full of people. Why? Because the house is filled with living people who could help while the cemetery is filled with dead bodies which can do nothing. If Jesus Christ did not rise and is still dead then He has no power to save us. Our faith is vain.

4. We are spreading a lie. Then we are also false witnesses to God, because we testified against God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if in fact the dead are not raised. (v. 15).

5. We have no hope for the future. Christ’s resurrection is a guarantee of the future resurrection of His people; so if Christ is not risen then this guarantee is worthless.

6. We suffer for nothing. " When Paul says if Christ is not risen then we are “of all men most miserable,” he means that of all the people in the world, Christians are the ones who deserve the most pity.

• If Christ is not risen, why bother to go to church? You would be better off somewhere else.
• If Christ is not risen, why bother to put money in the offering plate? You’re only giving to a lost cause.
• If Christ is not risen, why bother to serve Him? You’re only wasting your time.
• If Christ is not risen, why tell others about Him? You might as well save your breath.

But if Christ was telling the truth when He predicted He would rise from the dead:

• He is the Son of God.
• The gospel really is good news. It really is “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.”
• Our faith is grounded in a living Savior who can save every person from sin, death, and hell.
• When we share the good news of Jesus Christ, we are spreading the truth, not a lie.
• We have the sure expectation of a bodily resurrection. Our bodies will not stay in the grave; we will rise again as Christ did.
• And we are not of “of all men most miserable.” We have every reason to be the happiest people on earth.

Ha tehát hirdetjük, hogy Krisztus feltámadt a halálból, hogyan állíthatják némelyek közületek, hogy nincs feltámadás? Ha nincs feltámadás, akkor Krisztus sem támadt fel. Ha pedig Krisztus nem támadt fel, nincs értelme a mi tanításunknak, s nincs értelme a ti hiteteknek sem. Ráadásul még Isten hamis tanúinak is bizonyulunk, mert Istenről azt tanúsítjuk, hogy Krisztust feltámasztotta, holott nem támasztotta fel, ha a halottak egyáltalán nem támadnak fel. Ha ugyanis a halottak nem támadnak fel, akkor Krisztus sem támadt fel.

Ha pedig Krisztus nem támadt fel, semmit sem ér a hitetek, mert még mindig bűneitekben vagytok. Sőt azok is elvesztek, akik Krisztusban haltak meg. Ha csak ebben az életben reménykedünk Krisztusban, minden embernél szánalomra méltóbbak vagyunk. De Krisztus feltámadt a halálból elsőként a halottak közül.

1Kor. 15, 12-20

Elmélkedjünk egy kicsit: Mi van ha Jézus nem támadt föl?

1. Jézus hazug.

Jézus számtalanszor megjövendölte, hogy fel fog támadni. Egyértelműen beszélt erről. „Ettől kezdve Jézus jelezni kezdte tanítványainak: Jeruzsálembe kell mennie, sokat kell szenvednie a vénektől, a főpapoktól és az írástudóktól, megölik, de harmadnap feltámad.” (Mt. 16, 21). „De feltámadásom után majd előttetek megyek Galileába." (Mk 14, 28.) Húsvét reggelén az angyal a két csodálkozó asszonynak a sírnál ezt mondja: „Nincs itt. Feltámadt, ahogy előre megmondta” (Mt. 28,6.) Ha nem támadt föl akkor mondhatnánk valóban, hogy hazug. Ha egy dologban hazudott, bízhatunk e benne?

2. Nincs evangélium.

Az „euangelion” görög szó, magyarul örömhírt jelent. Ha a föltámadást kivágjuk az evangéliumokból, akkor nem örömhírt hanem gyászhírt kapunk. Fél evangélium pedig már nem is evangélium igazán.

3. Hitünk értelmetlen.

Hinni egy halott üdvözítőben nevetséges és ugyanakkor szánalmas is. Ha egy őrült üldözne bennünket, és két út állna előttünk, melyiken indulnánk? Egy emberekkel tele ház felé vagy egy kihalt temetőbe rohannánk? Szerintem mindenki az előző mellett törne pálcát. A ház élőkkel, míg a temető holtakkal van tele akik nem segíthetnek. Ha Jézus nem támadt föl és még mindig a holtak közt van, akkor nem tud minket megváltani, hiábavaló a mi hitünk.

4. Hazugságot terjesztünk.

Hamis tanukká válunk, akik azt állítják, hogy Isten föltámasztotta Krisztust, holott ez nem igaz, ha a holtak nem támadnak föl.

5. Semmi reményünk.

Krisztus föltámadása a biztosítéka annak, hogy a benne hivők föl fognak támadni. Igen ám, de ha Krisztus nem támadt föl semmit sem ér a mi biztonságunk.

6. Semmiért szenvedünk.

Amikor Szt. Pál apostol arról ír, hogy: „minden embernél szánalomra méltóbbak vagyunk” valóban a keresztények a legszánandóbbak.

• Ha Krisztus nem támadt föl miért menjünk templomba? Mennyivel jobb vasárnap heverészni.
• Ha Krisztus nem támadt föl miért adakozzunk? Hiszen ez csupán már veszett fejsze nyele.
• Ha Krisztus nem támadt föl miért szolgálnánk? Csak az időnket pazaroljuk.
• Ha Krisztus nem támadt föl minek beszéljünk róla? Fölösleges szócséplés.

De ha Krisztus igazat szólt, akkor:

• Ő az Isten egyszülött Fia.
• Az evangélium ténylegesen örömhír. Valóban Isten ereje a mi üdvösségünkért, annak aki benne hisz.
• Hitünk az élő Megváltóra alapul, aki egyedül képes megmenteni minden embert a bűntől, a haláltól és a pokoltól.
• Biztosan hihetünk a test föltámadásában. A földi testünk ismét föltámad, ahogy Jézusé is föltámadt.
• Nem vagyunk „minden embernél szánalomra méltóbbak”. Igenis minden okunk megvan arra, hogy a legboldogabb emberek lehessünk az egész földkerekségen.
